At Prime Plant Hire, we offer roller hire services that are available nationwide. Our rollers are perfect for compacting large areas of stone, hardcore, or asphalt, and provide excellent results while being easy to maneuver. For example, our Bomag 120 roller (twin drum ride-on roller, 1200mm) has a compaction force of around 1040kg. We have twin drum rollers available in different sizes, with the 120 and 80 (800mm) being the most common for hire.
In addition to ride-on rollers, we also provide pedestrian roller hire (also known as Ped rollers). These are typically around 550mm or 710mm wide and can vibrate and compact various surfaces such as tarmac, tar, bitumen, gravel, stones, MOT type 1, MOT type 3, and asphalt repair work. They work exceptionally well in confined sites where larger rollers may not be suitable for the job.

Introduction to Roller Hire in the Construction Industry
Roller hire is a common practice in the construction industry, providing access to various compaction equipment for different projects. Renting rollers from reputable tool hire centers enables construction companies to ensure the availability of well-maintained and efficient machinery. This practice also offers flexibility, allowing companies to scale their equipment needs based on each project’s requirements.
One of the key advantages of renting rollers for construction projects is the reduction in upfront investment costs, especially beneficial for companies working on occasional or short-term projects. Additionally, renting eliminates the need for storage space and maintenance of rollers during periods when they are not in use, streamlining construction operations and reducing overheads. Furthermore, roller hire services often include convenient delivery and collection options, enhancing overall convenience for customers.

Plant hire centres like Prime Plant Hire, offer a range of rollers for hire, including double drum rollers, pedestrian rollers, compact rollers for confined spaces, and larger self-propelled rollers for heavy-duty compaction tasks. Specialized rollers such as remote control trench rollers and smooth rollers cater to specific construction needs, providing versatility in equipment options. Accessories like pad foot rollers and twin-drum ride-on rollers are also available to enhance the functionality of rented rollers for various compaction tasks.
When selecting a roller for hire, project managers should consider factors such as the surface type and compaction requirements to ensure optimal results. The weight and size of the roller are crucial in determining its suitability for specific construction tasks and site conditions. Additionally, evaluating the availability of trained operators or the need for operator training is essential to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the rented rollers.
Prior to operating rollers, operators must conduct a thorough pre-use inspection to check for any defects or malfunctions that could compromise safety. Effective communication and coordination among construction team members are vital to ensure the safe operation of rollers on site. It is essential to adhere to industry regulations and safety guidelines, such as wearing seatbelts and using appropriate signaling, to minimize the risk of accidents during roller operation.
